New Year Resolutions

At this time of the year we traditionally evaluate the past year and with that introspection, we resolve to make the necessary changes to improve our lives.  For the year 2010 why don’t we resolve to make changes that will positively impact our community association, our fellow owners and the management of our association by helping our board of directors in the following areas:

  1.  I will volunteer more this year with board activities, committees, workshops and member meetings.
  2.  I will try to attend more board of director meetings and participate at appropriate times.
  3.  I will attend, participate and help, if asked with committee and workshop meetings.
  4.  I will read all official notices, correspondence and other communications from the association.
  5.  I will attend all member meetings or provide a proxy, if I am unable to attend a meeting.
  6.  I will provide constructive input and opinions to our board of directors and committees.
  7.  I will try to have a thorough working knowledge of our association’s documents, any proposed amendments and state statutes that affects the operations of our community.
  8.  I will pay my maintenance fees and special assessments when due (not at the end of the grace period) when billed by my association.
  9.  I will read and understand my association’s budget and reserve calculations.
  10.  I will try to openly communicate my fellow unit owners and board of directors without spreading any rumors about my association.
  11. I will secure adequate insurance for my unit according to my association’s documents and state statutes.
  12. I will abide by and uphold the association’s documents, as well as the rules and regulations of my association.

Based on what our community association’s have had to endure over the last several years, it is time to reflect and resolve to be a better person and a better unit owner in our community association for the coming year.  Have safe, healthy and prosperous New Year!
